Where Can I Take Hazardous Waste?

Randolph County Recycling District boasts a permanent household hazardous waste drop-off site, aka Pollution Solution, situated at 2115 E State Rd 32, Winchester. You can start bringing items on March 16th through October 12th, and we also have two bonus day of November 16th and December 14th, operating hours are Saturdays from 8 am to 12 pm and Thursdays from 3 pm to 6 pm, except on holiday weekends. We welcome various household hazardous waste items, such as:

  • Oil-based paint, stain, lacquer, and thinners
  • Garage and garden chemicals, used motor oil, pesticides, and herbicides
  • Household cleaners and chemicals, including fluorescent bulbs and tubes
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • Electronic waste – bring any item with a cord; TVs and monitors 25” or larger incur a $10.00 fee
  • Tires accepted only on collection days, June 12th and Sept 11th, with tractor tires costing $20.00 and other tires $2.00 for disposal

Except for the mentioned fees, all other items are accepted free of charge as Randolph County Recycling District covers the remaining costs. What happens to all this hazardous waste? Chemicals are disposed of by a certified company, while tires are recycled. All that e-waste undergoes recycling, by breaking down into plastics and metals for reuse.
